This is a mouth-watering recipe originiating from Katmandu, Nepal. Try it with lamb too.
Preheat your oven to 390°F (200°C).
Take your thin beef steaks and cut into strips.
In a bowl, combine 1 tbsp of sour cream, juice from ½ a lemon, 1 tsp of sea salt, 2 tsp of black pepper, 2 tsp of cumin, 1 tsp of garam masala, 1 tsp of paprika, ½ tsp of allspice, ¼ tsp of clove powder, 1 tsp of red chilli powder, 1 tsp of minced garlic and stir. This is your marinade for the beef. Once combined, add it to the meat until it is covered and set it to the side.
Once marinaded, put your beef on parchment paper and put it in the oven and let it cook until it is around 80% done and set it to the side. You will be fully cooking the beef in a few minutes.
Chop up 1 white onion, 2 small peppers and 2 green green chillies and begin to sauté them on a pan on medium heat.
Once they have softened, add juice from ½ a lemon, 1 tbsp of white sugar, 1 tsp of cumin and 1 tbsp of garam masala to the pan with the onions, peppers and chillies and cook for a few minutes.
Next, add your beef strips to the pan and stir around. Cook until the beef is fully cooked and browned a little.
Serve with freshly chopped cilantro and a wedge of lemon to squeeze on top.
